Center of Hope

The Center of Hope has been ministering among people who struggle with difficult issues of life, like family concerns, relationship strains, addictions, financial concerns, joblessness, incarceration, hospitalization, spirituality questions or feelings of hopelessness. The Center of Hope is a place where people can come, be listened to, encouraged, and refreshed. Here  we’ll be helping out in a hands on way through working with their clothing or bike ministries.

Church at the Warehouse and The Answer Center

The Church at the Warehouse is not your ordinary church. It was designed to reach people who do not seem to fit into a traditional church. Services include conversational teaching, shared meals, poetry and the arts. But first there was The Answer, a Christ-centered community started to provide a one-step resource for holistic assistance for families and individuals in need. As they served people, friendships grew and the Church at the Warehouse began. Here we will learn about the church and The Answer Center and find out about their philosophy of serving people first.

Ethiopian Christian Fellowship Church

The Ethiopian Fellowship Church’s congregation is made up of immigrant brothers and sisters. Join them for worship on Sunday morning.

Furniture Mission

The Furniture Mission is a community organization of volunteers who share the love of Christ through the acceptance and distribution of “gently used” furniture to those in need. We will be picking up from those willing to donate it as well as delivering it to those in desperate need of receiving it.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army in Sioux Falls strives to meet human needs by providing assistance and advocacy for low-income households. Here we will take part in the “Night Watch,” serving an evening meal program for those in need and the mingle with our guests.

Set Free Ministries

Set Free Ministries is a sort-of bikers church with music like you’ve never heard! They do not strive to reach the religious wise, they strive to reach the common people for Christ. They do not strive to just give cheap lip service, they strive to show Jesus’ love daily through their actions. Join in on Sunday with this unique church congregation.

St. Francis House

The St. Francis House is an ecumenical emergency shelter for the homeless offering hospitality, fellowship and support to those who have nowhere to sleep. They provide a warm bed, showers, laundry, food and other referrals. They offer special services for reaching long term goals including employment, independent housing and addiction recovery. Here we will serve ice cream to the residents of the St. Francis House.

Summit House

Sioux Falls Seminary purchased the former Summit Oaks Center and turned it into a Bridging Ministry in the heart of Sioux Falls. Seminary students are learning firsthand about community development, bridging the gap between churches and the neighborhood. We will learn about the Summit House’s ministry and then we will prayer walk the streets of the diverse and poor Pettigrew Heights neighborhood.

The Banquet

The Banquet is a feeding ministry that serves hungry people in their community in the spirit of dignity and respect. Their mission is to equip volunteers to provide food and fellowship to those in need. They provide a safe place where people can gather to receive food for the body and soul. Here we will serve the poor and homeless dinner then mingle and converse with the guests.

Volunteers of America Bowden Youth Center

Volunteers of America’s Bowden Youth Center after school program offers education and creative opportunities in a safe, supportive environment as well as recreational activities and non-competitive sports. Trained counselors are available for youth wanting someone who will listen to their concerns. We’ll get our weekend started interacting with inner city youth through games and conversation.
