To Pray, To Serve
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009Saturday Evening
When we were on the prayer walk, God really broke my heart over all the people in the neighborhood lost in the hopelessness of poverty, drugs, prostitution, etc. From this and visiting Abide Network, my passion to help these kind of people grew. I don’t know what God wants me to do with this passion right now, especially because I live in a very affluent town. For now, I know I need to be praying for God to show me opportunities.

What impacted you the most? Talking to George at the retirement center who empowered me as I left our beautiful conversation. He said “Keep doing what you are doing, God is there for you.”

Value
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Friday Evening
Meeting with the homeless at Angels on Wheels was definitely out of my comfort zone. But talking with Gabe, my eyes were opened to the desperation of his circumstances. He shared his story with us and I could see that he just wanted someone to listen. Giving him that time made him feel valued, and it opened my eyes to the reality of homelessness.

We were at Hope Skate the first night and the kids, girls in particular, were skating and hanging onto our hands- assured that we weren’t going to let them fall.

A Million Dollars
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009Friday Evening
At Angles on Wheels, we went to the Jackson Tower to hand out flowers to mothers for Mother’s Day. It amazed me how happy a simple rose made them and how they craved touch. When we would pray, they would grab my hand and just hold on for dear life. Then they would hug me and thank me like I gave them a million dollars or something. It was really interesting.

Please Pray

At Angels on Wheels I encountered a gentleman that was struggling with alcoholism. I offered to pray with or for him and he responded with the most genuine “Please pray for me.” It truly touched me.

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009Different Kind of Church Service
Friday, April 24th, 2009Sunday Morning
When we went to the Empty Tomb Church, I was just expecting a normal service like last time I was there. But this time it was a lady that came up and spoke for the second half of the service. She spoke on repenting, changing your life for God, and the truth about today’s times. She was so motivating to me and the truth behind her words really impacted me.
