Getting out your comfort zone to bless others

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Saturday Night

I was impacted when we got the chance to help feed those at the Siena Francis house. It really pushed me out of my comfort zone. They all appreciated it and kept thanking us. As one man said, “being homeless can be really hard, but seeing you guys and having this food really makes us happy.”  This was really encouraging.

Helping a Mom Provide

Friday Night

A mother and her son came to the Sienna Francis House while we were there with the Angel’s on Wheels and we helped her find a trash bag full of clothes for her son. He got new boots and so many clothes. I felt like I had helped make a difference and I thank Urban Plunge for allowing me to do that!

Where to Go

Friday Evening

At the Siena Francis House, I met a man who had just gotten out of jail that morning. Even though he had family in town, he didn’t have a place to stay that night. It just deeply affected me in that there was no place for him to transition. I feel like I need to do something to fix that.

Open Up My Eyes

Friday Evening

Seeing the homeless and talking to them about life really showed me how it can happen to anyone and they are just like us. It just showed me how much we take all the little things in life for granted.

Put a Smile on My Face

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Friday Evening

One thing that impacted me was when we were giving donuts to people at the Siena Francis House. One guy really liked the vanilla ones so he took a couple and he was just so happy. He had this huge smile on his face when he walked away.
